SLATE International Film Festival
SlateIFF aims to be one of the most inclusive global film festivals and is open to filmmakers from any backgrounds, locations, and affiliations. Our goal is to give everyone a platform to showcase their best work with an international audience, who share the same passion for films.
Run by a team of seasoned actors, casting directors, producers, and filmmakers, SlateIFF is an independent film festival created to reward creativity and talent. Too often, we heard talented filmmakers limit themselves by thinking they do not have the right equipment, or the money or all sorts of excuses. The SlateIFF is an opportunity to demonstrate that there is no need for expensive equipment or a big budget to make a movie, and that some amazing award-winning movies have been made on a mobile phone, a lot of coffee, and sandwiches. That's the spirit of independent filmmaking and is our motivation behind the SLATE International Film Festival.
We have put together a high calibre jury for this festival, made of seasoned actors, directors, producers, casting directors, cinematographers, action coordinators and stuntmen, from all around the globe (so far we have judges from Hong Kong, Beijing, New York, and the panel is growing stronger). We'll introduce you to the judges gradually during the festival build up to the official selections in September. For a sneak preview, check the judges section. Follow us on Social Media to stay updated, we are @slateIFF on the main platforms (Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter).
Covid 19 hit the world hard since last year, and remote interactions and online events have become the norm for now, but that doesn't mean that movies cannot get made, or cannot be rewarded at film festivals. The method may have changed, but not the spirit.
Our favourite motto is "When you have to shoot, then shoot, don't talk". Let's make movies!
